French After School Activities - Process
How Does it Work?
How long is each lesson?
The teacher comes to your school for a minimum of 1 hour per session. Schools often choose to run three “terms” per year, each “term” running for 10 sessions (the number of sessions depends on the school’s term dates) with a break for half-term.
How often do the lessons take place?
Children learn through listening and repeating, so it is important that they have regular lessons. Once a week is the minimum recommended and we would encourage school staff to work with the teacher to organise practise sessions, during the week, in between languages lessons.
How large should groups be?
Our fees are based on groups of 10 children and we recommend that there be no more than 12 children.
Where do the lessons take place?
The teacher will come to your school and teach the children, in an environment that they are already familiar with. We recommend a quiet environment, away from the other children, where they will not be distracted. The teacher may ask to use your audio equipment if it is available
Can the school staff be present?
We highly recommend that a teacher, class assistant or parent be present during the lesson to help the teacher and the children. This person will benefit from the lessons as much as the children; teachers may wish to work with the teacher to organise practise sessions with the children outside the lessons.
When do the lessons take place?
Lesson times and days are flexible and we aim to fit in with your school time table: 3.30 to 4.30 is the most popular time for lessons.
Most Schools run the language courses on a term basis and have an average of 10 lessons per term although this is flexible.
